America's Self Interest: A Limited Resource

Like another breath of fresh air through the gold nostrils of Exxon stockholders, profits are up, ethics are down, and American Self Interest seems to be flowing abundantly. But wait! Could it be? Just when we thought that our perpetual attitude to serve corporate aristocracy would have no end, we are open-hand slapped back into a red scare.
While other "developing countries" drain, without reservation or oil reservations, precious million-year-old dinosaur decay from the battleground for the war against terror, we are doing something unprecedented in American history; we are caring! We care about ethics, urging for officials to, at the very least, set a time line for dragging Mr. Bush, kicking and screaming, away from his favorite sandbox. We care about social reform, banning gay marriage (and possibly straight PDA), shooting anything that moves toward The Fence, and raising the minimum wage from Ramon noodles broke to macaroni broke. And the strangest of them all, we care about the environment.
Apparently, for the first time in about 80 years, someone from Los Angeles actually stepped out of their car and realized that they can no longer breathe. According to Al Gore the very same atmospheric garbage that is causing inner city youth to smoke inside is also causing global warming. Whether or not global warming is a reality has yet to be proven to Pat Roberson, so I will stay away from that issue. The real question that global warming possess is: will we be able to sustain our recent lack of self-interest in order to fight it? The answer remains unknown. I can make a speculation. If China is not restricted under KYOTO, expect one of two things: preemptive global warming or preemptive war. Please note, we have a history of both.

Any questions?
